This decision caught Pirelli off guard after their Friday evening tire analysis revealed damage in the connection between the carcass and compound, signaling potential failures under prolonged use. Interestingly, while this year’s concerns and last year’s issues are wear-related, the 2023 problems stemmed from high-speed kerb strikes at corner exits, particularly at Turns 12/13, where aggressive kerbs have since been modified.
